Feng Shui is the 5,000 year old Chinese system of managing one's luck and good fortune.
For the past years, Feng Shui has been steadily growing in status and popularity in the West.
Feng Shui involves capturing the beneficial CHI (or Qi), also referred to as the life-force, which flows through the earth's meridians,
while at the same time deflecting the malevolent SHA, which brings adversity and misfortune.
Many Chinese consider a Feng Shui survey of their prospective home just as important if not more so than a building survey.
True Feng Shui always requires a compass. Without a compass, one is only practicing interior design and personal preference.
A Feng Shui analysis is very specific: There are eight directions, North, South, East, West, Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, and
Southwest. On a Lo Pan, or Chinese Compass, these directions are divided into three different sections.
There are 24 divisions on a Lo Pan of 15 degrees each.
Each division's orientation can result in a different house in terms of its prosperity.
A few degrees one way or another is a completely different house type.
There are many different levels of Chinese Feng Shui.
The commonly used teachings include:
Form - The Form method only addresses the external or internal environments.
Eight House - (Also known as the East/West teachings) This method addresses the basic
orientations and how best to align one's self to the favorable directions.
Xuan Kong - (Also known as Flying Star Method) This is a time specific Feng Shui which looks at
orientations and time factors.
One of the first things newcomers will notice is that the arrow or red mark on the compass needle points South and not North,
which is correct for Chinese Feng Shui Compasses.
On a Lo Pan, the arrow or red marking (red for fire) always points South, the other side of the needle points North.
The Small Feng Shui Compass is perfect for travel and will fit easily in your pocket.
The compass is solid brass with a protective lacquer finish and has a brass cover with a beautiful two dragon design.
The Small Compass has traditional Feng Shui markings and includes a degree scale with one degree resolution.
The compass comes complete with a handsome red zippered protective travel pouch.
The Small Chinese Feng Shui Compass measures 3 7/8 inches (9.8 cm) in diameter, 9/16 inch (1.5 cm) thick (3/4 inch (2 cm) thick with cover on),
and weighs only 3.8 ounces (109 grams).
The Standard Feng Shui Compass has the traditional markings on a large brass plate mounted on a painted wood base.
The inexpensive Standard Chinese Feng Shui Compass measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) in diameter and 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) thick,
and weighs 5.2 ounces (147 grams).
The Large Premium Feng Shui Compass is our best and most accurate Lo Pan.
The compass has two replaceable red orientation reference lines and a round spirit level for precisely aligning the compass.
The Large Premium Feng Shui Compass has a beautiful red lacquered square wood base with a black beveled bottom.
The brass plate has the traditional Feng Shui markings and includes a degree scale with one degree resolution.
The compass comes complete with a heavy red nylon Velcro® closure travel and storage pouch.
The Large Premium Chinese Feng Shui Compass measures 6 inches (15.2 cm) square, 9/16 inch (1.5 cm) thick, and weighs 13 ounces (364 grams).
